Spring Cleaning

There are many exciting things going on… probably too many for one post.  I’ll try though.  I’ll try.

Thule (pronounced TWO’lee)is a short film being produced by some super-geniuses from AFI (American Film Institute) in LA and we’re making the ruminant and slightly menacing Phase III Storm soundtrack to it, along with some sound design.  Photography has just finished, and it will be a few short months before release.  The soundtrack will be cold strings, sweeping breathlessness, and military-reminiscent drums.

Gunsling Birds has been hard at work raising money for the new album!  Kickstarter is the venue, $3000 is the goal.  We want to make wonderful packaging for this album, then we want you to hold it in your hands and say “wow, this is nice packaging…”, then we want you to turn off the lights and listen to the record from start to finish while possibly saying “wow, this is good music… and the packaging is nice”.  We might even want you to tell us that this all happened.  Just a thought.  In case you didn’t see the hyperlink, this is where the beef resides: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2032876798/cash4disc-gunsling-birds-is-making-a-new-album

The Capitalist Youth is tying the last knots on the long awaited friends-in-a-room studio album of songs from the southern tier.  This will be a hand-clapping, sing-a-long, wondershow of tuneage which will hopefully make you clap your hands and sing. out loud. both the clapping and the singing.  yes.

Matt Simons has finished tracking his newest effort, which will be a 5 track EP called “Living Proof”.  It will be home to some great songs, and the performances of several wonderful musicians.  Editing and overdubs have begun and are promising great things to come!  In the mean time, check out Matt’s free single of the week on Bandcamp.com (essentially an album’s worth of music, for free!)

Ringing inside the New Year.

Tis 2010, which means, update factory!

The newest Capitalist Youth effort is near completion.  Left to finish: mixing, eye-design, and mastering.  All is looking good for completion in about 1-2 months.  It will be wonderful to the ears.

The trifecta of EPs being created by Gunsling Birds is a slow growing infant, but learn to walk it shall, and talk to boot!  I’m proud to see each spurt of learning and development from their tiny feet and fingers.

‘City of Parks’ is still viewable on the Channel 13 (PBS in New York City) website.

tis all!

City of Parks update

The 30 minute documetary aired September 27th on PBS, right after the new Ken Burns film “The National Parks: America’s Best Idea”.  The showing received great reviews and ratings with over 125,000 viewers in the New York City area.

Made possible by viewers like you!

City of Parks!

September 27th will be the PBS premier of a new documentary about the lesser-known parks in New York City.

This will be Cosmonaut Union’s television debut!

Project Update

Jerseyband’s album has been released to the world.  It is avaliable on iTunes and all other digital distribution stores.

The Capitalist Youth have started tracking for the new full length album.  Recording will take place in several living rooms from Philly to New Jersey to Brooklyn and beyond!  If you have a living room you would us to record a song or two in, let us know!  Room-rocks the new jolt of awesome.

Gunsling Birds will start recording 3 simultaneous EPs within the month.  It will be like 3 siblings, each with a unified parentage, but conflicting feelings about what posters to put on the walls.  I’m siding with the one that still loves KISS.  We’ll see who wins, I’ll try to keep score.

Jerseyband in Alarm Magazine

It is odd, but extremely welcome, to see Jerseyband discussed between the likes of Mastadon and Prefuse73.

Exciting Newses

JerseyBand has just put up another track from the new album Beast Wedding.  It is for sale on their website, or for listen on their myspace.  Possibly more/equally important is that they’ll be playing May 9th at Webster Hall in NYC.  Frank will be there doing sound.  Come say hi and shake your arms at the noise.

Music for Listening

Jerseyband has offered one teaser track from the new album on their website, for purchase.  Likewise, have at it.

Frank Wartinger has just signed on to score a short PBS documentary entitled The Unseen Green.  It will be a 30 minute number comprised of 6 short vingnettes regarding different parks in and around New York City.  More later.

Jerseyband

Jerseyband, the intrepid pioneers of ‘Lungcore’, have been diligently brewing a studio concoction which is almost ready to be released to the world under the descriptive title, “Beast Wedding”.

Frank has finished his part of the mixing (part of the album is being mixed by Ryan Ferreira, Jerseyband’s guitar-meister and recording engineer), and is about to be mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, NY.

Obviously we are all excited and hope that feeling spreads.  The band will be playing in Brussels later in March, and will have a featured article in Alarm Magazine in the coming months.

This Horizon

Heres some more information regarding the iPhone application.

Also, The Gunsling Birds record is nearing completion after 2 full years of production.  It is in the capable mixing hands of Wil Farr at the moment.

Also Also, Matt Simons‘ EP “I Have Said Enough” has been mastered by Peter Denenberg at Acme Studios and will be avaliable on iTunes and other digital download type sites in the near future, maybe a month or so?

Keep up with the world!  It be spinning.
